Supreme Court Blocks Nationwide Vaccine and Testing Mandate for Large Businesses
On Thursday, January 13, 2022 the Supreme Court of the United States blocked the Biden Administration’s vaccine and testing mandate on large businesses. During this decision, it was ruled that OSHA was overstepping their authority. This ruling puts the decisions of workplace safety related to COVID-19, in the hands of businesses. The Biden Administration argued for masking requirements in place of the vaccine mandate, but this request was rejected.
While the mandate for large businesses was blocked, the requirement for Healthcare workers to receive the vaccine, was upheld. This mandate will be enforced on an estimated 20 million healthcare workers.
