The Forum team has been hard at work this year developing new resources to help employers and the public better understand and take action on healthcare policy and purchasing in Indiana.
The 2021 Indiana Healthcare Legislative Summary is an overview of the 10 health related bills passed into law during the 2021 Indiana Legislative session which adjourned on April 29, 2021. In total, 1,011 bills were introduced including 220 bills which succeeded in the legislative process for a 22% total passing rate. The 2021 Legislative Session was a budget year. A summary of the FY 22/23 budget can be found here.
Secondly, the Forum conducted an independent assessment of Indiana hospitals in relation to their performance with the federal CMS Hospital Price Transparency Rule, which was upheld on November 12, 2020.
Among other findings, 118 Indiana hospitals were scored from 1 (worst score) to 8 (best score):
- 20.3% of hospitals scored 8 points
- 55.9% of hospitals scored 7 points
- 14.4% of hospitals scored 6 points
- 9.3% of hospitals scored 5 points or less (4 hospitals scored 1 point, the worst score)
