INDIANAPOLIS (December 12, 2024) — The Employers’ Forum of Indiana (EFI), a leading non-profit healthcare coalition, shared today that Governor-elect Mike Braun announced his intent to appoint EFI President & CEO, Dr. Gloria Sachdev, as the new Secretary of Health & Family Services. After 10 years of distinguished service with EFI, this opportunity will allow Sachdev to bring her leadership and policy expertise to a broader stage in the service of Hoosiers.
Since joining EFI, Sachdev has been instrumental in guiding the organization through significant growth and change. Under her leadership, EFI commissioned cutting-edge research through the RAND Corporation to measure and publicly report prices that employers pay for health care. This data, along with other public and proprietary sources, was used to develop Sage Transparency, a groundbreaking publicly available online tool that offers an unbiased view of hospital price, quality, and financial data. Sachdev has also been an outspoken supporter of data transparency, with her advocacy resulting in over two dozen state laws to improve healthcare accessibility and affordability for Hoosiers. Her vision and commitment over the past decade have helped EFI solidify its position as a leader not just in Indiana, but in the national healthcare space.
“Gloria’s leadership and vision have been transformative for EFI and for the countless employers and stakeholders we serve,” said Dave Kelleher, EFI’s Founder and current Board member. While we will greatly miss her in the daily operations of the Forum, we’re thrilled to see her take on this new role where she will continue to make a meaningful impact.”
In light of Sachdev’s appointment with the State, Kelleher, who founded EFI in 2001, will step in as the organization’s interim CEO. His extensive experience and deep-rooted connection to EFI’s mission will ensure a seamless transition.
Additionally, EFI announced the hiring of Craig Brammer as its new Vice President & Director of Sage Transparency. Brammer comes to EFI with decades of experience working in the healthcare space. He previously served as President and CEO of the Network for Regional Healthcare Improvement (NRHI) and The Health Collaborative in Cincinnati, leading efforts to improve health and healthcare nationally. He was also part of the leadership team at the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC), focusing on technology and payment policy while overseeing a $260 million federal innovation program. Most recently, he has been working with the HHS Assistant Secretary for Technology Policy on projects supporting public health informatics. His strong leadership background, coupled with his expertise in healthcare technology, makes him an ideal fit to advance EFI’s mission. Brammer will begin onboarding and transition into this role in the coming weeks.
“I am so thankful to the entire team for helping to make this a smooth transition,” said Sachdev. “EFI’s work will continue as usual, and we look forward to the wealth of knowledge and fresh perspectives that Craig will bring to the team. Our dedication to the Forum’s mission and to the employers and stakeholders we serve remains unwavering.” EFI’s Board of Directors and staff are excited about Sachdev’s new opportunity and are grateful for her years of leadership and dedication, which will have a lasting influence on EFI’s future.
